Wolf Haven International is a wolf sanctuary located in Tenino, Washington that rescues and provides a lifetime home to displaced, captive-born wolves. They have participated in the Mexican gray wolf Species Survival Plan (SSP) program since 1994, and are one of only three pre-release facilities in the U.S. for this wolf. Two packs of Mexican gray wolves from Wolf Haven Intl. have been released into Arizona’s Apache National Forest: the original Hawk’s Nest Pack in 1998 and the Cienega Pack in 2000. Wolf Haven International has had a total of five litters of Mexican gray wolf pups born at the sanctuary and in 2010, transferred six Mexican gray wolves to a facility in Mexico. Wolf Haven International hosted the annual Mexican gray wolf SSP meeting in July 2012. For more information, visit Wolfhaven.org.
